About AppliedVR

AppliedVR is creating a new reality in healthcare. We are pioneering immersive therapeutics (ITx), a new category of medicine, to treat intractable health conditions that affect millions of people around the world. By harnessing the unique properties of immersive therapeutics, we are developing a biopsychosocial solution to address conditions such as chronic pain and behavioral and mental health disorders. Ultimately, we believe that everyone should have access to this transformative therapeutic and collectively, we are the catalyst of making this dream a shared reality.

Today, our virtual reality-based treatments represent a comprehensive approach to chronic pain that empowers patients with an intuitive device they can self-manage at home. AppliedVR's RelieVRx is the first VR-based, prescription therapeutic to receive Breakthrough Therapy Designation and De Novo authorization by the FDA for chronic lower back pain (CLBP). CLBP affects 45 million people in the U.S. alone. We are poised to help millions more through our substantial development pipeline that addresses additional multi-dimensional conditions.

We believe in the power of people. We honor our diversity and elevate each other's voices. As a fully remote/work-from-home company, we may not be under the same roof, but we're connected every step of the way via our: 1) core values-we are empathetic, evidence-based, and entrepreneurial; 2) shared mission-solving pain through immersive therapeutics; and 3) our vision-a virtual-reality pharmacy in every home.

Job Description

AppliedVR is looking for a Territory Sales Manager in the Massachusetts territory. You will be responsible for creatively selling our disruptive pain management VRx, RelieVRx, to chronic pain doctors and clinics throughout your relevant territory. Because this is a novel product for the industry, you should expect to spend a great deal of time educating clinicians and proving the value of this product to your customers. Your previous experience building excitement for and selling new products, especially disruptive technologies, will be critical to succeeding here. We will be expecting you to use your previously existing relationships with high volume chronic pain doctors to bring in new business within the first calendar year. Expect the first year to be filled with persistent, repeated engagement with these clinicians as you introduce this new product.

You must be comfortable working in a collaborative, small company environment where new, unexpected challenges could appear at any moment. You must have a bias for action and be able to independently face and overcome challenges as they appear.

Roles & Responsibilities (are not limited to the following):
  • Introduce a disruptive VR pain management platform to chronic pain doctors, clinics, and providers in your relevant region
  • Create strong, lasting relationships with pain management doctors and drive the daily prescription and utilization of this novel product through the framework of hyper-frequency selling (which is to be in the HCP office at least 3 times a month selling and supporting that office)
  • Build awareness for and educate clinicians on the evidence that supports RelieVRx as an evidence-based treatment for chronic pain and the value it can bring to patients suffering from chronic pain. Utilize data from clinical trials to sell competitively against other, non-FDA authorized VR solutions currently in the market and likely utilized by your targets
  • Independently uncover and capitalize on sales leads within the territory while effectively prioritizing your day with minimal supervision
  • Utilize your strong understanding of new product reimbursement strategies to build a book of business for the company's flagship product
  • Initial targets will be in the Massachusetts area where the candidate will spend the majority of their time traveling to clinicians by car. Additional targets in the surrounding area can be expected and travel to those targets would be expected accordingly.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous experience selling pharmaceuticals or related medical devices in the United States, experience with pain medications/treatments preferred
  • Some experience selling disruptive technologies or experience in a commercial launch of a new product or company preferred
  • Strong, current relationships with key high-volume chronic pain doctors, clinics, and providers in the relevant territory is a plus
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the pain management market segment is ideal
  • Understanding of current telehealth trends, device reimbursement, CPT codes, and the DME (durable medical equipment) market segment
  • Understanding of the private practice and commercial sell preferred
  • Independent, entrepreneurial mindset that thrives in a startup environment and can self-prioritize and thrive with minimal supervision

Location

Located in Massachusetts with a willingness to travel beyond into nearby states as the role may call for it.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000. The salary range describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position across all US locations. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant qualifications, depth of experience, skill set, certifications, training, education, and specific work location. The compensation packages may be adjusted based on candidate work location, due to differences in the cost of living for the given location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.

The total compensation package for this position also includes a competitive commission plan and equity compensation.
  • Employee benefits include medical/dental/vision healthcare benefits, 401k retirement plan with a 4% employer match, employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability benefits, employee assistance program, remote work stipend and car allowance (for field reps only).
  • We offer the following paid time off programs:
    • Flexible Time Off for vacation
    • 11+ paid holidays per year
    • Sick time is accrued at one hour for every 30 hours worked. Accrual is capped at 72 hours.
