Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Systems Department Supervisor, serves as skilled journeyman in the area of building fire alarm, intrusion alarm, card access, building automation and computer network systems.

Required:
  • Completion of an electronic trade school program or journeyman apprenticeship program with a minimum of four years or equivalent work experience.
  • A working knowledge of local and national fire protection codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and one line diagrams.
  • Ability to give and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • A working knowledge of institutional fire alarm, intrusion alarm, card access and building automation systems
  • Ability to set up and use a wide variety of electronic test equipment perhaps unique to the electronic field. (i.e.: digital multimeters, ampmeters, and diagnostics recording meters.
  • Ability to serve on rotating on-call teams to respond to after hour emergencies.


Preferred:
  • Installation, repair and adjustment of electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumantic door openers.
  • Installation, repair and adjustment of various other architectural hardware items.
  • A working knowledge of computer software used to control electronic equipment in a building automation environment.
  • A working knowledge of Windows NT, 95, and Unix operating systems.
  • Electronic maintenance experience in an institutional or University environment.
  • Install and make repairs and adjustments to electronic locking system.
Special Conditions Required:
  • Must possess a valid California Driver License and participate in the DMV Employee Pull Notice program.
  • Must be able to operate a facilities Management vehicle.
  • Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedule.
  • Must be willing to work weekends.
