Overview

The Technical Program Manager plays a pivotal role in orchestrating and overseeing multiple Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM) projects, ensuring their seamless execution within allocated timelines and budgets. Reporting to the Director of Program Management, this role involves collaborating closely with various departments such as Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and selected JDM /ODM partners. The Technical Program Manager must exhibit exceptional leadership and organizational prowess to effectively consult with both internal teams and external stakeholders including suppliers, JDMs, and customers.

Base Salary Range 126,000 - 181,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans, generous time off and profit sharing

Responsibilities

Program Management:

    Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) with our JDM/ODM partners, facilitating clear and effective communication channels.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to both internal engineering teams and external JDM partners developing audio, video, and control products, ensuring project goals are understood and timelines are met.
  • Lead the development and execution of project plans, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery with JDM/ODM partners. Coordinating communication between internal development teams and JDM partners on an ongoing basis to manage requirements and align to software constraints.
  • Define and manage acceptance criteria and test plans with JDM partners including software performance benchmarks.
  • Be responsible for effectively navigating and harmonizing the processes and practices of QSC with those of the manufacturing partners. This involves skilled negotiation, alignment, and collaboration to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Responsible for simultaneously leading several core and quick-turn programs that are relatively diverse in nature, along with one or more mega programs
    • Typical core- programs will be complex in nature with several cross-functional interdependencies. This requires oversight to and managing numerous competing, concurrent, and overlapping deadlines to completion, without forgoing results.
    • Typical mega programs may be similar in complexity but are long-term in nature, typically spanning 2 years or more. Examples include developing core technology products and integrated hardware and software solutions.
  • Tracks and manages all key metrics pertaining to a program and identifies when metrics deviate significantly from Plan of Record; escalates issues in a timely manner and proposes corrective actions.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and program sponsors to develop goals, set the prioritization of deliverables, and discuss necessary priorities and stakeholder needs.

Identifies program issues/risks and creates a risk mitigation plan. Maintains and updates the risk tracker.

Team Management:

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment. Encouraging cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and externally, to drive alignment and achieve project objectives.Manages and prioritizes the work of the program team by establishing schedules, task assignments, and tracking tasks of team members.
  • Helps to promote program vision and objectives within own team, and ensures program objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Defines and communicates performance expectations; monitors, evaluates and optimizes performance; coaches and motivates team to achieve success.

Program Execution:

  • Supports delivery of the PMO strategy by driving stakeholder desired outcomes to ensure programs have met key execution criteria: on time, on schedule, and on or under budget
  • Manages project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Adapts to significant changes and setbacks in order to manage pressure and meet deadlines. Checks in with team(s) to determine project status and assist with overcoming barriers to meeting deadlines.
    • Regularly manages team, time, and resources to maintain forward movement with complex initiatives and ensures deliverables are met. Persists in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks, mitigates and resolves issues that surface as defined above. This includes project teams who have a direct reporting relationship and project teams who do not have a direct reporting relationship.
    • Delivers results using highly skilled problem solving, sound decision making ability, stakeholder management, influence without authority, and resourcefulness.
      • Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at the first answer, probes all fruitful sources for possible solutions.
  • Influences and/or makes key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions). Ensures decisions made have taken into considerations the downstream effect and organizational impact both inside and outside of immediate work group and communicates to the appropriate parties to correct where necessary.
  • Exercises substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.
  • Uses verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Agile Software development methodology, e.g. SCRUM is complementary

Experience:

  • 10+ years Program Management experience or related work experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of working with multiple JDM/ODM's successfully delivering products on-time within budget.
  • Extensive experience program managing successful Audio, Video, and Control product portfolios developed with OEMs and ODMs.
