Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Controller to oversee the financial operations of our real estate business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting functions for the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and financial statement preparation. The Real Estate Controller will work closely with the executive team to ensure financial objectives are met, and will provide financial insight and guidance to drive strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions of the real estate business
  • Manage and coordinate the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements
  • Develop and maintain the annual budget and forecasting process for the real estate business
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights to management on trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, tax consultants, and other advisors
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, including performance management, training, and development
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and analysis as required

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in real estate accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices, as well as real estate accounting standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues and develop solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team of accounting professionals
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software systems such as Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, or Oracle

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
