Job Description

The Sr. Human Resources Business Partner is a strategic partner who proactively identifies solutions to business issues with main emphases in the following areas: align HR people processes and business goals and strategic thought partnership with business leaders regarding employee engagement, employee relations support, succession and retention planning, support with org design, the continual enhancement of a positive work experience for Sage's employees, etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with minimal supervision in a highly visible position.
  • Fosters strategic partnership with leadership to provide insightful counsel and support for business decision making.
  • Acts in a consultative role with the utmost confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Works extensively with all levels of leadership and staff using sound business judgment.
  • Acts professionally internally and externally to proactively promote Sage as an Employer of Choice.

HR Responsibilities

  • Consults with leaders to analyze trends and metrics regarding talent in their business areas, improve work relationships and productivity, suggest HR strategies to achieve business goals. Develops and suggests long-term solutions, techniques and strategies, aligning HR goals with the larger objectives to ensure long-term success of the business.
  • Works in partnership with managers who enter employees into the progressive disciplinary process, ensuring thorough and appropriate communication, documentation, and fairness to the employee and the business. Provides confidential and appropriate consultation to managers and/or individual employees for employment relations matters and compliance issues (e.g., progressive discipline, grievance resolution/investigations, performance management, harassment allegations, morale, work/family issues).
  • Works with the talent team in the continuous feedback process for U.S. and Canadian employees including reviewing documentation by managers as needed, assisting with meetings between managers and staff in delivering feedback, etc.
  • Works with the talent team in the continuous improvement process for U.S. and Canadian employees to encourage continuous enhancement of professional development and process improvement.
  • Researches, develops, implements, administers, and interprets company HR policies, procedures, and programs and brings to leadership to enhance the employee experience, increase engagement and retention, improve employee productivity, etc.
  • Helps prepare and present department reports and analysis for leadership, detailing and summarizing employee information/HR data to support achievement of business goals, as needed.
  • Assists leaders in evaluating staffing needs, acts as thought partner regarding organizational design, oversees and assists with strategy for recruitment efforts.
  • Acquires approvals and processes for immigration paperwork with highest accuracy.
  • Brings a solid understanding of employment laws and regulations to maintain Sage's position as an Equal Opportunity Employer and to ensure policies and procedures are fair and equitable. Ensures company compliance with federal and state mandated programs such as EEOC reporting requirements, AAP reporting and compliance, etc. and other legislation that impacts the employer-employee relationship.
  • Ability to conduct full-cycle recruiting when needed for exempt and nonexempt positions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned by the AVP, HR and OD.
  • Provide back-up support for any and all other HR functions.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Seven to 9 years of progressively responsible positions in Human Resources.
  • Experience with employee relations, succession planning, retention, employee engagement, org design preferred. Equivalent experience welcomed.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, both federal and state.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheet applications.

LANGUAGE SKILLS, REASONING ABILITY AND ANALYTICAL APTITUDE

  • Ability to think both strategically and at the level of detail. Ability to see patterns and trends among data and provide thoughtful solutions to address business needs.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism and work with tact and diplomacy while maintaining a sense of humor.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work professionally under pressure and with a sense of urgency.
  • Reasoning/problem-solving ability, effective decision making, sound business judgment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret concepts, documents, etc.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence/perceptive skills, capable of developing and maintaining positive relationships with individuals at all levels within the organization as well as with external resources and applicants.
  • Project management ability, keeping projects on time and under budget.
  • Ability to develop and maintain extraordinary working relationships with a variety of business leaders and employees, which includes possessing excellent communication skills, listening reflectively, maintaining objectivity.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal capabilities, and strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions.
  • Multitasking ability.
  • Effective internal/external customer communication.
  • Ability to effectively manage vendor, contract, or consulting relationships.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment requiring flexibility.

    Compensation at Sage is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to skill set, nature and level of experience, qualifications, and other relevant considerations. The salary range for this position is $92K - $115K. Please note that the compensation details listed in U.S. role postings reflect the base salary only and do not include bonuses or benefits.
