Aerojet Rocketdyne is looking for a Quality and Mission Assurance Manager ensure mission success for exciting government and non-government space and defense missions through superior project and people leadership skills. This position will lead the Machining/Tool, Chemical and Heat process Inspection teams on 1st shift at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Canoga Site. The Precision Measurement Room (PMR) employs a variety of manual and automated machine instruments as well as hand tools to verify product and tooling dimensions to aerospace tolerances, including the use of coordinate measuring machines, structured light, lasers, optical comparators, molds, borescopes, profilometers, etc. The PMR team also assists in defining product tooling dimensional and inspection requirements. Process Inspectors verify product propulsion system cleanliness and clean room environments to meet product and performance requirements. Weld Inspectors are responsible for verification of in place tube weld, EB weld, Robotic weld, manual weld and brazing quality compliance. Normal shift start time is 6:00am.

This manager will have budget responsibility for ~ 30 Inspectors and 4-6 salaried personnel. Skillful mentoring and coaching will be required to sustain quality requirements and to maximize production efficiencies through daily coordination, capital projects, Total Productive Maintenance(TPM) planning and Process Continuous Improvement.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline and at least nine (9) years of related experience in Quality/Manufacturing/ (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Successful candidates will have direct experience in Aerospace Quality or Manufacturing leadership roles. Preferred candidates will also have experience in reading and interpreting drawings and engineering specifications and have a very good understanding of Quality processes. The ability to adapt in a dynamically changing environment is also a necessary skill for this position. Experience working in a bargaining unit environment is also desired.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat or hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply. The position requires the ability to travel by air or auto.
