The Health Informatics Analyst is responsible for leading the development of analytics solutions for UCLA Health and Health Sciences by gathering business needs, documenting requirements, identifying appropriate data sources, developing reports, visualizations and various analytics solutions, and delivering them to stakeholders. The Health Informatics Analyst will provide analytical support for health management, including profiling, health economics, and business analytics / performance metrics. The Health Informatics Analyst must achieve in-depth knowledge of relevant software applications as well as understand policies, procedures and constraints. The Health Informatics Analyst takes direction from, and collaborates with, the Manager, Analytic Solutions, and the Director, Enterprise Analytics, on work priorities and manages the resolution of escalated issues.
This role will require you to be on-site at least twice a week.
Demonstrated ability to:
§ Apply advanced professional health informatics concepts and extensive knowledge of industry practices to projects of all levels of scope and complexity.
§ Collaborate with business, technical, and clinical leaders to plan, develop, implement, and analyze highly-complex clinical informatics and business systems, and to assist in designing integrated architecture to ensure an optimal and efficient user experience and functionality, integrity, and reliability of systems.
§ Create technical documentation pertaining to the design and development of semantic data models
§ Design, develop, validate and perform thorough functional testing of reports, data extracts, visualizations and dashboards utilizing BI and analytics tools and data sources such as, including but not limited to: On-premise and Cloud Data Sources, Oracle Server, SQL Server, Caboodle, Clarity, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, Registry Framework and Data Marts, SlicerDicer, Advanced Excel Techniques, Databricks and other Analytics Tools.
§ Identify business analysis performance improvements
§ Identify objects in Clarity or from non-Epic data required to fill the gaps. Using best practices from Data Modeling, design and develop (write data-definition SQL) objects
§ Identify the requirements gap between Caboodle objects and requirements for assigned tickets and projects. Identify Caboodle gaps as “extension” vs. “missing concept.”
§ Leads project teams that include advanced business and clinical staff to improve clinical informatics results and to provide advice and sophisticated metrics and analytics to support management’s decision-making processes for systems modifications that are cost-effective, scalable, and meet present and future needs.
§ Maintain technical proficiency in analytics and data warehousing technologies including, but not limited to, Tableau, Microsoft Stack(SSIS/SSAS/SSRS/PowerBI) and SAP Solutions (Crystal/Webi/Universe Design)
§ Manage the inventory of Clarity & Caboodle objects used for both published and ad hoc reporting. Assure that all object metadata is meaningful, standardized, complete, accurate, and up to date.
§ Manage the measures and metrics for assigned Epic applications and/or business lines. Assure that the metadata used for the enterprise measures and metrics catalog is meaningful, standardized, complete, accurate, and up to date.
§ Manage various data models for analytics purposes, and for assigned Epic applications and/or business lines.
§ Performs highly-complex quality assurance testing, designs and runs SQL (Structured Query Language) queries for enhanced and complex clinical data access, and plans, develops, and writes documentation of design and deployment processes, workflows, and results.
§ Plan business analysis approach, stakeholder engagement, governance, and information management.
§ Provide support, troubleshooting, and problem solving at an advanced level, and may produce and deliver user training curricula.
§ Review upgrade documentation related to analytics tools and content, determine the best implementation approach. Evaluate, anticipate and communicate risks to existing analytics products and processes, and recommend ways to mitigate those risks.
§ Review, translate and transform business requirements into the design of semantic data models through the use of tools such as, but not limited to, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, Azure Analysis Services and SAP Universe Designer
§ Serves as a technical leader in collaborating with business operations, healthcare clinicians, and IT applications and technical teams to translate operations workflow and patient experience objectives into technical requirements.
§ Understand and implement best practices for tuning and optimization
