Senior PCB Layout Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

This position will design multilayer, controlled-impedance printed circuit boards for leading edge Multichip Memory Packages (MCP) based on DDR3, DDR4, and NAND Flash memory technologies. 

NATURE OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidate will use state of the art PCB layout tools such as Mentor Expedition and Cadence Allegro to design boards meeting very critical design and signal integrity constraints.  He or she will work closely with hardware design, simulation, and manufacturing engineers to define and implement PCB routing and manufacturability constraints.  Candidate will work closely with PCB fabrication companies to ensure impedance design targets are met while meeting manufacturability constraints for high volume production.  Candidate will be responsible for generating all engineering documentation required to fabricate the PCB designs including ECOs, gerber databases, and fab drawings.                


 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Detailed understanding of high speed digital PCB routing constraints
  • Detailed understanding of multilayer PCB construction
  • Previous layout experience involving a DDR3/4 interface is a must.  Experience in routing DDR5 memory interface is a plus. 
  • Familiar with constraints-driven PCB layout methodology
  • Hands on working knowledge of current PCB layout tools such as Mentor Expedition or Cadence Allegro
  • Solid mechanical drafting skills, experienced with use of AutoCAD for 2D mechanical drawings
  • Experienced with use of schematic capture tools such as OrCAD, Cadence Concept, or Mentor
  • Experienced in Mentor Hyperlynx for Signal Integrity & Power Intergrity tools is a plus
  • High Density Interconnect (HDI), DDR4/PCIe design experience
  • Experienced with Rigid Flex design is a plus
  • Experienced with use of CAM tools such as Valor or CAM350
  • Experience with use of signal integrity simulation tools such as Hyperlynx for pre and post route simulation. 
  • Solid computer skills.  Experience with MS Word/Excel/Project.
  • Must be detail oriented and have a proven ability to organize, analyze, set priorities, and multi task in a fast paced environment
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.  
  • BSEE, or BSEET degree.
  • 8+ years experience in layout of high speed PCBs.
